"Brother Robert: 'I was given a PJM award during the Governor's Birthday last Saturday' "

Brother Robert gave this simple testimony during our Sunday Morning Service, 15 July 2012.
But the miracle did not take place by chance.
It is God who promoted him publicly, according to His word.

Robert said:
"Recently, my department head forwarded my name to the authorities for a PJM ward (for services to the community).

"Yesterday, I received the award from our Governor during his birthday celebration.

"I want to give all glory to God for the award.
It is a great blessing to me from the Lord."

Comments (Brother Andrew):

1. When we do works of righteousness in secret, God rewards us openly.
This was what our Lord promised in Matthew 6:1-4.

Matthew 6:1,4
Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. 4 Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

2. Brother Robert has been doing works of righteousness in secret for many years, when no one was looking.

(a) All these years, he opens up the sanctuary at Sungai Ara at 7am, cooks the rice for our Sunday lunch, prepares all the pails and water and detergent for the post-lunch washing up, and when needed, prepares the baptism pool. He only leaves at 8:15am when the Sunday Morning Prayer Group arrives to pray.

(b) Past the past few years, he also picks up some Nepalese workers from a supermarket at 11pm, once every fortnight, fellowships with them, sings praises to God with them, teaches them God's word, prays for each of them, brings them for late dinner/supper, normally at Pelita, and then sends them home to their hostels, usually after 1:30am.

3. Brother Robert does these things in obedience to the Holy Spirit, blessing others through his acts of love, building God's kingdom on this earth in the lives of others, doing it cheerfully, joyfully and willingly, never once grumbling or complaining.

4. Therefore God has honoured His precious child Robert openly and publicly by given him a state award for service to the community.
God is faithful and will always keep His word!

5. If Robert had complained or grumbled, he would have grieved the Holy Spirit and lost his reward.

Deuteronomy 28:47-48
47 Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, 48 therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you.

6. All glory to God for His goodness to our brother Robert.
We rejoice in God's faithfulness and God's promotion in his life.
